Turn Your Food Waste Into Living Soil, Right Here in Bristol

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rated 5.0 on Google

Join Bristol’s community-led composting network and keep your food waste working locally not shipped out of the city.

The Bristol Living Compost Project is a household food waste collection and composting service run by Generation Soil CIC, a Bristol-based Community Interest Company regenerating local soils and food systems.

We collect food waste from Bristol homes, compost it locally using living biological processes, and return nutrients to the city as living, microbe-rich compost.

This is composting done properly clean, local, and soil-positive.

How Membership Works

Your membership covers:

  • Local household food waste collection in Bristol

  • Clean, sealable buckets and bokashi fermentation

  • Composting and maturation using living biological processes

  • Returning nutrients to Bristol soil

  • Community education, growing projects, and soil regeneration work

Most members choose a monthly plan and build up a living compost allowance across the year.

If you’d like compost sooner and better value overall annual plans include two months free.

What Happens When You Join

We swap it for a clean bucket and top up your bokashi bran keeping collections efficient and local across Bristol.

3. We Compost It in Bristol

Your food waste is:

  • Fermented to stabilise nutrients

  • Composted under managed biological conditions

  • Matured into living, microbe-rich compost

Nothing leaves the city.

4. Nutrients Return to the Soil

Living compost is returned to:

  • Gardens and allotments

  • Our food forest market garden

Your food waste comes back to life as soil.
