Did you know that when you come into contact with soil, your skin absorbs a natural bacterium, Mycobacterium vaccae, that boosts serotonin, the 'happy hormone'?
It’s science: soil can literally make you happier.
By volunteering with Generation Soil, you’re not just helping compost food waste, you’re improving your wellbeing, reconnecting with nature, and helping Bristol build a circular, regenerative food system.
Whether you want to get your hands dirty or support from behind the scenes, there’s a place for you in the Soil Revolution.

“To forget how to tend the soil is to forget ourselves.”
Vandana Shiva – Ecologist & Philosopher

Volunteering with Generation Soil is about participation, not perfection, and contributing to local nutrient loops that keep food waste, soil, and food growing connected in Bristol.
At the moment, we are mainly looking for volunteers to lend a hand at our food forest market garden on the edge of Bristol and people to deliver flyers to local cafes, businesses, and community spaces to raise awareness of our work.
Generation Soil is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), which means every contribution helps regenerate soil, support community composting, and expand local food growing.
